So far, I have ordered one pair of nice glasses and five pair of cheap glasses. I need sunglasses. My Rx was for driving, and this is Texas.
So, at the shop, they had quite a few pair, but they were all $400 for frames alone!!! Next stop, Costco. They had some cheap sunglasses, but they were really not what I was looking for. I almost gave up and got the ugly, cheap Costco generics until I found this site (no affiliation, I don't take ads).
Dear lawd, they had a lot of designer sunglasses that claim to be Rx. That would be nice, nobody would even know they are Rx! I'm thinking about ordering a pair of Rx sunglasses and also another nice frame. There was another frame I liked at the shop, but they were $450! They're $179 on that site (well, plus lenses).
I already maxed out my 2008 FSA. Between the ER and more medical expenses than I expected, that teensy $500 was gone months ago. If I wait until January, I can put these on the FSA, which is an instant 33% discount...
I'm not sure I can wait until January for the sunglasses, but I sure would like to.

With the FSA can't you save your receipt and submit it when you do have the funds available?
The 2009 FSA, sadly, doesn't start until 1/1/09. I think you can use the money later if you couldn't spend it all, like a grace period, but you can't spend it before...
