GM's PR Blitz!!!

I got this same email from greater GM trying to scare me into giving my money to GM.

My lowly blog doesn't have much pull or much to do with any of this, so they must have really gotten an aggressive PR agency that thought it was worth time to send an email to lowly, anonymous me. They're spending like AIG and they don't even have the money yet. Wheee!

The email sent me to this Youtube video. It's a professionally-made, ominous music, non-cited stats MESS. Seriously. I could make the same video for file sharing or the airlines. We're going to lose jobs, supplier jobs, and spin-off jobs. Whee! WTH are spin-off jobs? If your case is that good, CREDIT YOUR STATS.

But a lot of the numbers are just crap. Like the taxes from the dealerships. Sorry, you pay those whether it's Toyota or GM.

What happened in this country? Since when do you beg the government for money when your company is failing? Can you even imagine Clinton's response? Reagan's? This union rag video seems to think that bankruptcy means GM ceases to exist. Not true. Things will change; they have to change. Maybe it can come out stronger.

As for me, I don't want my money going to any failing business. Not banks, not airlines, not automakers, not manicurists, not retailers, not manufacturers. Businesses fail, they change, they adapt. If file sharing/oil prices/unions are making your business fail, you either change or you cease to exist. It's clear GM has to change, one way or another.

Why would we give free medical care to people but we can't help out a company that directly or undirectly employs millions? Keeping millions of jobs is important as well as keeping working factories in the States.

Gah! GM doesn't just magically disappear when it files bankruptcy.

It's like the airlines. Changes are made, they go through bankruptcy court, they come out leaner and meaner and hopefully profitable.

And those "millions" stats are bunk. The suppliers/dealers will supply/deal someone, be it Toyota or GM.

Bankruptcy same as for airlines? Hardly...As soon as you promise me that you'll go out tomorrow and buy a car that you have no assurance you'll be able to get service or parts for after a year and that will only be worth a small fraction of the price when you go to sell it in 5 years is when I'll believe bankruptcy will work. Not ready to promise you'll do that....yeah I didn't think so. It's not that hard to understand. It's not buying a plane ticket, it's making a 20-40k purchase. Big difference my friend.

@anon. Got it. Any company that sells things over 20K can't go bankrupt and the government has to give them money.
