We got home last night from drinking wine and watching rugby at a friend's house. We arrived to an empty Bloomingdales box. Odd.
I've never ordered from there because we don't have a Bloomingdales. So, I called. Turns out it was a wedding present from my mentor. A $300 designer china wedding present.
This is really disturbing to me. Our cars have gotten broken into, I could live with that. But going into delivery boxes, wow. Leaving an empty box??? They even took the card!
Worse, we happened to have a fancy-pants $300 box, so I feel like we made ourselves a target for a real robbery of all our stuff in our house.
I'm terrified that our house will get broken into. I like to think that you wouldn't pick the 70s, poorly maintained cheap condo with the big, barking dog as your first choice, but if there's stuff that nice, maybe you would.

Ugh, that sucks. :\ I'm assuming you're not in a secured building?
With the cars and this, I would not feel safe. Can you move?
Wow, that sucks. Call Bloomingdale's and call USPS or Fed-ex (whoever delivered the box) and let them know what happened. That stuff has to be insured.
Fed-ex once left a package for me outside my apartment complex, not even outside my door. The guy simply was too lazy to type in the code to come in (and according to records, the package was dropped off at 1 am - who does that??). So yeah, that package was stolen, but I did get my money back.
I agree, stuff should be ensured, just give a call.
That's kind of freaky that you've been targeted AGAIN.. I mean.. this is really getting crazy. Seriously.. I'm worried for you!
Damn girl! Where do you live???
I'm beginning to think you're a target and I bet it's the same dumb arse person. They know you guys are flashy, so they just watch your house for an opportunity.
At any rate, a package of that value should require a signature. Shoot, when I shop at Target online, their deliveries require a signature from the leasing office. If there are any issues, I can put in the tracking number and see who signed for it.
I'd ask your mentor to contact Bloomie's right away. Their customer service is subperb and your gift will be replaced in no time.
Dog, are you and senor moving soon?
I'm sure the package had insurance on it considering the value. We had a stupid delivery guy drop a package with something made of glass. When it was opened up, no doubt it was broken so the company sent us another one. I always try to telecommute on days where I know something expensive or important is coming in the mail. The last thing I want is that box sitting outside or in my door for someone to get.
Darn it. Those things seem to always happen in apartment rentals, but a townhouse?
