Maybe you were referring more to the smaller things.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I think these things do add up, and I guess the sheeple who read that wastepaper need to be told.  I&amp;#39;ve seen people waste plenty on frills like bottled water (that and other luxuries add up to wasted hundreds per month) and I think a lot can be saved by prudent appliance and furniture purchases - that sort of big thing that blends into the next realm - cars, houses - it&amp;#39;s all on a continuum. We live in an area with excellent local water, so I think buying bottled water (likely to be inferior to our local water) is a waste, and I don&amp;#39;t see anything wrong with buying appliances used. I actually got my first credit card my freshman year in college 17 years ago and my middle initial was put on the card as R and not A.  Well, to this day, I still get crap with my middle initial as R and I know exactly where it came from.  The sad thing is I have moved about 8 times and even got married and it still follows me.  UGH!  Get ready for the onslaught of stuff with that name on it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Regarding the financial stuff, I am sure the average subscriber to the Knot is not as well educated as you so that is why the information seems so stupid.
